Day 6 - Paris, France

La Tour Eiffel - We Francy, huh?

La Tour Eiffel

We started our day at the Notre Dame Cathedral with a Scottish tour guide named Conner, who then Went on to teach us parts of the culture and history of France, as well teaching us that hair can in fact defy gravity.
After meeting at the Notre Dame Cathedral we continued to make our way down the seine river to learn about the original Facebook/day after photos. Which is really just the history of king Henry the fourteenth throwing a three day celebration after the bridge being built. King Henry then invited all of the artists in France to build sculptures of the drunken men and add it onto the bridge, creating what is come to known as the embarrassment of the Facebook day after pictures.
Moving onto one of the most famous sites we found ourselves on the lovelock-bridge. Instead of everyone confessing their true love for each other and their sweethearts we were all told about the anti-cupids that are responsible for trimming back the mass amounts of locks in order for the bridge to remain standing.
Ater walking through the (I don't know what the name is) gardens we learned interesting stories like three drunken Australians accidentally extinguishing the enteral flame by roasting sausages on the open flame, resulting in a six month ban from France.
Moving on in Paris, we then went to the famous street (I'm not sure what that street is called champ ellyse?) surrounded by well known brands such as Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Tiffany's we were given our free time to enjoy the shops and the typical French food all in front of the arc de triumph, where we met underneath to head off to one of the most well known museums, the louvre.
When we were began our tour almost everyone was anxious to see the popular Mona Lisa and after walking through multiple halls of amazing artwork we found ourselves in a small room, overcrowded with people trying to take a "selfie" with Mona. Leaving the Mona Lisa exhibition we were given the opportunity to branch off and see what interested us most. Many of us went to the part of Egyptian work, napoleons apartment, or to see the statue of Aphrodite
Now of course a trip to Paris would be absolutely incomplete without a trip to the Eiffel Tower, so of course being on the ground taking the typical pictures of holding the tower wouldn't be enough; we had to be at the top. So we climbed 669 steps plus an extra set to get a breathtaking view of Paris. Obviously with conquering all these stairs and being the exchange students we are, we needed food! We all ate at the most typical French restaurant (so small it could be considered Napoleon size) with amazing food, a flaming giant cake, and escargot, which for many of us was the first opportunity we've ever had to try it.
All in all, after battling the Eiffel Tower, shopping on the most sophisticated street in the city, and visiting the Mona Lisa, we believe it is safe to say that we all fell in love with the city of lights.
