Buongiorno!
This was our earliest start yet this trip. With an agonizing wake up at 6 am there was nothing but sleepy eyes at our 6:30 breakfast and 7:00 depart to Italy. Yet with the excitement of getting in Italy almost everyone was sleeping in the bus, while a few watched some lousy movies. Spirits lifted as it started to sink in that we were on our way to the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
So at last making our way through the traffic, we stopped in Genova for lunch. Running out of time we had to eat very fast to make it up to Pisa in time, but we didn't. We got in Pisa but quite later than scheduled. We also changed drivers along the way.
Arriving at Pisa around 3:30 we only had half an hour to take our cheesy and classic tourist pictures while enjoying a classic Italian gelato. After being on the chilly air conditioned bus for the previous 8 hours, the humid, hot Italian air took us all by surprise.
Making our way through persistent street vendors we hopped back on the bus to take off on our last leg to Rome. Four long hours later we finally made our way into the hotel while the sun was setting over the Italian mountains. We then had a lovely supper where Ryann managed to embarrass herself immensely with Italian waiter "Stage".
As much as we would love to go in more detail, we are dying to get to bed after our long travel day.
